With zeitgeisty, the audience travels back to the decade 1968-1978 and immerses itself in the feeling of revolution and disillusionment. It is an era that begins with the collective hope of a revolution, but is followed by abrupt disillusionment. This tension is expressed in many ways in the literature and music of this period: from the psychedelic era and the '68ers, sexual liberation and a new environmental awareness, increasingly progressive music and protests against capitalism and the Vietnam War - to the negative climax of the German Autumn, in which left-wing protests turned into terror. But in the end, the hedonism of the disco movement brought hope. zeitgeisty is a mixture of live music, readings and entertaining storytelling. As a partner of the "Science Year 2024 - Freedom", the University of Münster is hosting an exciting evening of talks as part of its regional initiative "Expedition Münsterland".
Under the title "How does freedom sound in black, red and gold?", the focus will be on the topics of freedom and German-German music history.
The year 2024 marks two important anniversaries: 75 years of the Basic Law and 35 years of the Peaceful Revolution.
The Year of Science 2024 is taking this as an opportunity to shed light on the value and significance of freedom from different perspectives.
Michael Custodis, Anna Seidel and Niklas Schwartz will take you on a journey through Germany's musical history and shed light on how freedom can be expressed artistically - be it through sounds, texts or images.
The evening is organized by the Arbeitsstelle Forschungstransfer (AFO) of the University of Münster.
Admission is free, but registration by e-mail (anmeldung@uni-muenster.de) is requested for better planning.

It's going to be SVENOMENAL! Musician, comedian and entertainer has made a name for himself in the German comedy scene in recent years. In his new program, he once again delights a wide audience with his friendly, charismatic stage presence. In SVENOMENAL, the urban village kid and dino boy Sven, to whom a true Disney princess has been lost, once again provides hearty laughs. And when the punchlines (sometimes spoken, sometimes sung) do occasionally skirt the waistline with a broad grin, they never threaten to fall below it. Subject to change without notice.

On Friday, 25.10. the café stage of the rocknpopmuseum belongs to the Poetry Slam NewComer:innen. With their fresh lyrics, they step onto the boards that mean the world for the first time and finally give expression to their words and thoughts. A single text per act is sufficient for participation and the audience then chooses winners in the categories "Heart", "Humor" and "Depth". The "winner takes it all" principle does not apply, but rather thematic diversity is in the spotlight. It starts at 20:00 and is hosted by Marian Heuser alias Peter Panisch. Deeply rooted in the eighties - melodies on wide sound carpets - indie and waverock from their own pen. There's a very simple reason why the band from Lingen in Emsland always sounds a bit like the eighties: three of today's four band members started out as a band in 1982. The big bands of the indie genre of the time left their mark on the Boysox: U2, Simple Minds, The Cure and New Order can be heard again and again. Today, over 35 years after their formation, the Boysox are still playing together; still almost in their original line-up and they still sound like the eighties. Subject to change without notice.

There's another quiz evening of a special kind at the Turbine music club. Music fans can put their knowledge to the test in various categories on topics such as rock and pop, charts and dance, bands and dance. There are questions, picture puzzles, sound snippets and much more from the past 50 years of the music industry. The focus here is on fun and a sociable evening. 2010s pop-punk paired with influences from post-hardcore and emo, that's Kings and Hurricanes.
Founded in 2020, the four guys around front woman Carina want to share their vision of pop punk and inspire the hearts of their fans with their mixture of a fresh, dynamic and diverse sound and personal lyrics.
After releasing their two singles Let It Go and This Fall, their first EP Nice was released in March 2023, featuring classic pop-punk riffs à la Blink182 and Neck Deep. Subject to change without notice.

An evening in honor of Kurt Cobain on the 30th anniversary of his death.
April 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death.
To mark this anniversary, the presenter and musicologist and sociologist Prof. Michael Custodis from the University of Münster will take a look at the "Nirvana phenomenon" and the musician Kurt Cobain from very different angles.
The audience will also have the opportunity to share their own experiences and associations with Nirvana and Kurt Cobain.
The evening will naturally be framed by Nirvana's music.

"Wir drehen auf" is the name of Kontrollverlust's latest album and, true to the motto "Nothing is too different, nothing is too daring", the guys have recorded a record full to the brim with anime songs.
But in addition to the intro songs from cartoons, anime and TV series, KONTROLLVERLUST also dig up long-forgotten catchy tunes and give them a new coat of paint with a lot of punk attitude, which not only gets the pulse racing among 90s kids.
It's like sitting in front of the TV again after school with cornflakes while your favorite series is on - except that no one comes in and tells you to get some fresh air during KONTROLLVERLUST!
In the past, the band has rocked stadiums, festivals, conventions and even a football half-time show and will be sticking their stickers on toilet doors for the first time at the end of 2024 as part of their own club tour.

Hitverdächtig - The music comedy stand-up show!
Dr. Pop is a doctor of music.
He is established on the radio, TV, on the net and on stage.
In his live program "Hitverdächtig" he treats with music samples and curious but completely true music facts.
Hitverdächtig" features music that can save a party, a relationship or the motivation to do sport or clean the house.
Whether pop, rock, classical, pop, jazz, hip-hop or rap: Dr. Pop fires off familiar but also unknown samples from the history of music.
And by the end of the show, everyone in the audience will know how to enrich their own lives a little more with music.
