Travel into your own past with music

Guided tours for all music lovers 60plus

A journey through music history that quickly leads to your own past – this is what the rock’n’pop museum regularly offers music lovers from the 60-plus generation.
The guided tours take place on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 2:30 pm.

A few notes ring out and there it is again, that goosebump moment, like the first kiss, the first heartbreak or a great concert.
Presumably everyone has such memories, which are closely interwoven with certain pieces of music and bands.
But the 60-plus generation in particular will have plenty of them.
A special tour is now dedicated to their world of experience.
Elvis, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, rebels, hippies, rockers, punks, civil rights activists – they all appear on the journey through the world of music in the rock’n’popmuseum.
Visitors get impressively close to them through videos, interviews, personal exhibits and pictures – all made possible by state-of-the-art technology.
The journey through music history thus becomes a journey into one’s own past and through one’s own memories.
After the tour through the exhibition, participants are invited to share their impressions over coffee and cake.

The guided tour costs 19.00 euros per person.
The price includes admission, the guided tour, coffee and a piece of cake.
The number of participants is limited, please purchase a ticket in advance.
Either online or directly at the rock’n’popmuseum.

Maximum number of participants 20 persons

Dutch guided tours

Dutch rock stars and bands

There are many similar developments between Dutch and German popular music. For this reason – and because of its location on the border – the rock’n’popmuseum also devotes attention to Dutch rock stars and bands in its permanent exhibition.

Guide Martin Borck, who grew up in Gronau, often listened to Dutch radio stations in his youth. As a former editor of the local newspaper, he has also followed the development of the museum since the first plans and can tell a lot about its history. For example, he knows why this special museum is located in Gronau. Spoiler: It’s connected to a rock star who, among other things, also released an LP with Dutch lyrics…
But above all, the tour is about the music.

Grenowe's stories

Diversity in person

Loud and shrill, but just as gentle and dreamy, that’s how Grenowe appears when you meet her at the rock’n’popmuseum.

Well informed and always up to date with the latest happenings in the world of stars and starlets, rock giants and pop phenomena. Despite or perhaps because the Grenowe has been haunting Gronau – and in particular the old walls of the rock’n’pop museum – for several centuries, it is the ideal companion for your tour of the museum’s permanent exhibition. Of course, she’s really thick with our Udo, inspired by Nina Simone, and a huge fan of David Bowie.

It celebrates the diversity of music and life and is part of this diversity. But it’s best if she tells you about it herself.

Bookings on request by telephone: 0 25 62 – 81 48 0
or by email to info@rock-popmuseum.de

The tour can only be booked at weekends until the end of March 2025.

The project has been supported in the member cities of the Kultursekretariat NRW Gütersloh since 2008, and Gronau is currently also taking part in the project with three elementary school. From the beginning of the second school year, the children stroll through the cultural institutions of their city or region in class and during regular lesson time. In the three project school years, the pupils should have gotten to know as many as six different genres and institutions or artists as possible. The rock’n’pop museum, the city library and various independent artists will also be taking part.
